These measure slightly more narrow at the top, allowing 2 things, the 8.5’ wide canvas to turn and come down the sides just a bit, which is more aesthetically pleasing than completely flat, and 2, allowing for a very slight taper towards the top, making this bimini not the widest thing on your boat, and not subject to be easily damaged.
